What is hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT)?
HBOT means breathing concentrated oxygen inside a chamber pressurized above normal atmospheric pressure. Under pressure, your body can carry more oxygen dissolved in the blood plasma. Peak Recovery offers HBOT for general wellness.
What is the difference between a hard-shell and a soft chamber?
Soft chambers are inflatable and typically reach about 1.3 ATA. Hard-shell chambers are rigid and sealed, and can reach higher, more stable pressures. Peak Recovery uses a hard-shell chamber.
What happens during the first visit?
Screening and intake, an orientation to the chamber, a 60-minute session and a debrief afterward. It takes about 90 minutes and costs $225.
What does it feel like?
You'll feel pressure in your ears as the chamber pressurizes, similar to an airplane descent. Swallowing or yawning usually clears it, and we go at your pace. Most guests find the session calm and restful.
Is HBOT safe?
HBOT is generally well tolerated, but it isn't right for everyone. Ear and sinus discomfort are the most common issues. Certain lung conditions, recent ear or sinus problems, some medications and pregnancy may require clearance or rule it out. That is why every guest is screened first. When in doubt, ask your physician.
What should I wear or bring?
Clean, comfortable clothes you can lie down in for an hour. Luca will go over anything that should stay outside the chamber during your screening.
Am I alone in the chamber?
Luca gets you settled in the chamber and stays close by. A call button inside the chamber notifies him immediately if you need anything.
How many sessions do people do?
It varies widely by person and goal. Many guests come on a regular schedule. We'll talk through options at your debrief. There's no obligation to continue.
Does insurance cover it?
Peak Recovery is self-pay. We do not bill insurance or government assistance programs.
How much does it cost?
The first visit is $225. Single sessions are $225, a 10-session series is $1,950 and a 20-session series is $3,750.
What are your hours?
Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm. Sessions at other times are available by request for an added fee.
What is your cancellation policy?
Please give at least 24 hours' notice. Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice, or missed appointments, incur a $50 fee.
Do you treat medical conditions?
No. Peak Recovery provides HBOT for general wellness and does not diagnose or treat disease. If you have a medical condition, please talk with your physician, and we're happy to help you prepare the right questions.
